100% Nebbiolo. The Castellero vineyard, in Barolo, previously supplied the normale bottling, though it has been bottled since 2011 as a cru wine. 70% of the vines are 45 years old, with 30% replanted 10-12 years ago. The estate has 0.8ha of vines in Castellero with a westerly aspect. The soils are Tortonian with marl, tufa and a strong presence of sand, making it free draining. The winemaking is traditional with long natural ferments (around 40 days) followed by 6 months in steel to cohere, and then ageing in 20–25hl Slavonian casks for 30 months. R&R
