Pinot Bianco

Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc)

Pinot Blanc has a modest, rather than inspiring, reputation, mainly generated by the serviceable examples from Alsace. These wines typically sit towards the bottom of the quality tree in the region and neither occupy the best vineyard land, nor receive the most lavish attention from winemakers, however in the right sites in Italy’s north the grape can really excel. Pinot Bianco finds its way into the still and sparkling wines of Lombardy, Trentino and Friuli and perhaps reaches its greatest heights in the cooler vineyard sites in Alto Adige, conveying terroir with compelling clarity.
