Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio

Though originally from Burgundy, Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris, Ruländer) is more commonly associated with the luscious exotic wines of Alsace in France, and with the snappy, mineral wines of Italy, or most famously (for quality) with Friuli and Alto Adige. Pinot Grigio became the darling of the Italian industrialist in the last half of the 20th century, with production easily outstripping even the most ambitious yield predictions. The scars traced supermarket shelves across the world. However, today as a consequence of the revolution in Italian grape growing and winemaking, Pinot Grigio has asserted itself as Italy’s most identifiable high-quality varietal wine.
