Montepulciano

Montepulciano

Montepulciano is the principal red grape of Abruzzo, forms the basis for Rosso Conero in Le Marche as well as supplementing Rosso Piceno, and serves mainly as a blending grape in Molise and Puglia. Though sometimes confused with the Tuscan town, Montepulciano and hence their famous wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the wines would be very hard to confuse. Montepulciano is a black grape that produces deeply coloured, fruitful wines that can be rich and soft in simpler renditions or powerful and structured in the hands of makers with higher aspirations.
