Prié Blanc

Prié Blanc

Prié Blanc is Valle d’Aosta’s most important white variety and the most planted, however, its occupation of only 7% of total vineyard acreage tends to emphasise the region’s reliance on red wine production. And although this red dominance seems a little counterintuitive in the often snow covered Alpine region, and seems to point towards macroclimatic conditions favouring red wine production, Prié Blanc asserts its suitability, producing wines that are the epitome of mountain purity and freshness. Almost all (87%) of Italy’s Prié Blanc is grown in Valle d’Aosta with most of it concentrated in the zone of Morgex et de la Salle. The wines tend to display aromas of cut green apple and wildflowers, and typically express distinct minerailty and bright acidity.
