“Ours is an agricultural reality that produces wines from organic farming. We do it out of respect for our land, which has generously given us the basis on which to grow our wine project.”

Cantina Tonello is located in Montorso Vicentino in the Chiampo Valley nestled in the Lessini Mountains, between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona. Farming predominantly volcanic soils, they mainly focus on Garganega and the local white grape Durella, with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Prosecco.

The estate is run by father and daughter team Antonio and Diletta Tonello, but winemaking is traced back to the 1930s. It wasn’t until 1985 that the production has any commercial intent, with Antonio launching the family label. The first metodo classico from Durella was made in 2000.

Diletta joined the family business in 2014, with the pair managing the 12 hectares of vines according to organic principles. She has a doctorate in Viticultural and Oenological Sciences and Technologies from the University of Padua.

The wines are mainly made in concrete tanks, with a small amount of oak and stainless used. The metodo classico wines age in bottle for an extended time – from 36 to 60 months.
