The Men in the Garage

The Men in the Garage

The Sardi are considered to be the purest race of Italians. During times of conflict they made for the hills and protected who they were as a race and as a culture. One of the best examples is found in the zone of Mandrolisai roughly in the centre of Sardinia. Time has stood still here and many things have remained the same for 150 years. Cultivating grapes and making wine have very recently felt a soft hand in production by external influences allowing the local families to continue the relationship with the land and give younger members opportunity for a future in farming. The three chaps at I Garagisti di Sorgono have brought love for the land and passion for the vines to our tables. Red varieties such as Monica, Bovale Sardo and Cannonau are vinified together under the guise of Rosato and Rosso and separately under each of the individuals name Manca, Uras and Murru. These are wines from old bush vines made in a pure and minimalist way but full of expression. Murru is the lightest profile, Manca has more structure and Parisi is the warmest. Then there is the blend known as Uras a reflection of theTradition in Mandrolisai.......
