Giacomo Fenocchio 'Castellero' Barolo 2014

$175.00 per unit (750ml)

Barolo DOCG

100% Nebbiolo. The Castellero vineyard, in Barolo, previously supplied the normale bottling, though it has been bottled since 2011 as a cru wine. 70% of the vines are 45 years old, with 30% replanted 20 years ago. The estate has 0.8ha of vines in Castellero with a westerly aspect. The soils are Tortonian with marl, tufa and a strong presence of sand, making it free draining. The winemaking is traditional with long natural ferments (around 40 days) followed by 6 months in steel to cohere, and then ageing in 20–25hl Slavonian casks for 30 months.

This vintage is reminiscent of the early Baroli, from the 60's and 70's made in the classical style and not as powerful as the finest vintages. Ageing is mid-term between 12-20 years. R&R
