Barolo DOCG
100% Nebbiolo. The Castellero vineyard, in Barolo, previously supplied the normale bottling, though it has been bottled since 2011 as a cru wine. 70% of the vines are 45 years old, with 30% replanted 20 years ago. The estate has 0.8ha of vines in Castellero with a westerly aspect. The soils are Tortonian with marl, tufa and a strong presence of sand, making it free draining. The winemaking is traditional with long natural ferments (around 40 days) followed by 6 months in steel to cohere, and then ageing in 20–25hl Slavonian casks for 30 months.
This vintage displays an enviable mix of power, acidity, ripeness and harmony similar in quality to the legendary 2010 vintage. Maturing very slowly over the next 25-35 years. R&R
