Verdicchio

Verdicchio, one of Italy's most underrated white grapes, is a stand out in the Marche region, particularly in the areas of Jesi and Matelica. Known for its bright acidity, citrus notes, and a subtle almond finish, Verdicchio offers a balance of freshness and complexity. The differences between the 2 wine areas are distinct. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, influenced by the warmer, coastal climate, tends to be lighter and more floral, while Verdicchio di Matelica, from the cooler, more inland town of Matilija, producers wines that are fuller bodied and more structured. Both styles age exceptionally well, adding layers of richness over time, making Verdicchio an excellent choice for pairing with seafood brodetto alla marchigiana, pasta and risotti. As Italian white wines gain attention, Verdicchio is emerging as a top contender and we encourage trying this stylish wine.
