Beppe Caviola is very well known in the world of Italian wine, both as a consultant to some of Italy’s most significant quality-driven estates and also as somewhat of the godfather of Dolcetto. In 1991, and at the urging of Elio Altare, he made commercially available, albeit in insignificant quantities, wine he had made from the exceptional Barturot vineyard, launching a modern legend and forever changing perceptions about the nobility of the Dolcetto grape.

Today, Beppe produces modest quantities of outstanding Riesling, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Barolo (from Novello) alongside his beloved Dolcetto in his purpose-built winery in Dogliani. With a focus on purity aligned with the concentration he sees from a high proportion of old vines and careful extraction, the wines of Ca’ Viola are supple expressions, polished, but with an effortless connection to the earth from which they come.
